EPISODE TWO
Even though the Kamiya Kasshin School name has been cleared after the Battousai
incident, no one's still interested in going back to the dojo to learn. On their way to
the Akabeko restaurant for lunch Kenshin noticed a little boy stealing the wallet
of an old man but returning it upon seeing that the old man's
using the money to buy his grandson a toy.

Many people are astonished that Kenshin caries a sword
since the law strictly prohibits anyone from carrying it. But generally
people assume that Kenshin is just a stubborn samurai. The same boy as before
steals Kenshin’s wallet but gets caught. Kenshin gives the money to the boy, but the boy refuses
on the grounds that it would take away his pride
and that he was only testing him cause he was carrying a sword.

At the Akabeko the owner Sekihara Tae told them that the
boy's name is Myojin Yahiko, and that both his parents are dead. His
father was a Samurai and died defending the country. Yahiko works for the
local Shueitai to pay back the money used for his mother's medication. Upon hearing that the boy's in
big trouble, Kaoru rushes off to rescue him.

When Yahiko went back to the gangster's hideout, he was
badly beaten when he couldn't give money to them. Fortunately Kaoru
was there to rescue him. The gang leader told Kaoru that they'll
release Yahiko provided that she plays dice with them, if she
wins, she may take Yahiko with her, but if she lose, she'll
stay and be their servant forever. Sensing that Kaoru's
in trouble, Yahiko distracts the gang and told Kaoru to leave. She refuses and
continues the game, and she wins. It turns out that Yahiko have switched the loaded die
with A real one so that Kaoru wins. But the gang doesnt keep their promise, so Kaoru is forced to fight
back but with a wooden shinai weapon against a real weapons she has no
chance. In the nick of time Kenshin comes and
gives the gang's leader a piece of his mind upon seeing his eyes, the gang leader orders them
to leave him alone. Then Kenshin and Kaoru took Yahiko with them to the dojo to teach him.
